KTS-> WTI?
For just under a month now, my world has revolved around the prospect of a dream journey; The job of a lifetime; The STA World Traveler Internship (WTI). This internship gives two individuals golden tickets to travel to over 16 countries around the world. Go ahead, gasp with me... I've been keeping tissues on hand to dab the drool that drips from the corners of my mouth every time I think about this opportunity.
So let me begin by giving you a glimpse of the application process. On February 21st, myself along with over 1,000 other guys and gals submitted videos cramming in who we are and why we are made for this internship. We boosted about days of old, journeys ventured, skills acquired, and cobwebs consumed. Photos were flashed and flaunted and fluttery words summed up personalities.
On March 2nd, after careful evaluation, STA narrowed its applicants down to 50. That's right, 1,000+ to 50. My flaming mane and charisma kept me in the running. The nifty fifty were then asked to submit further information including a sample blog post and educational background. And where are we now? Waiting....waiting anxiously... anticipation and agita levels at an all-time high. This Wednesday, the top 20 will be announced and called in for interviews. I wake, work, and dream with it on my mind. Just last night I bought a guide to iMovie and have been getting to know all my Mac, Pickles, has to offer.
I've been wishing on every 11:11, counting my lucky stars, calling out to Karma for a hook up. I've even begun to tweet. This experience has consumed me like a heaping a bowl of guacamole (the only other thing on my mind).
Excuse my sentimentality but no matter what the outcome, I feel as though I have already won. My facebook has been flooded with support, 'liked links' spread across pages I've never encountered. Friends of friends of friends from around the world are fans of mine, promoting my page, always asking "what else can we do?!" The Binghamton English and Theatre Departments have been notified and all are sending warm wishes.
I feel... well... BLESSED, beyond belief! This internship, though my spoon full of sugar and more, is not the end all. The gingerosity campaign has just begun and you better believe I am ready to continue spreading my freckles of freedom throughout the world.
England. France. Switzerland. Italy. Czech Republic. Croatia. Austria. Slovenia. Germany. Nepal. China. Thailand. Australia. New Zealand. Argentina. Brazil.
In the words of Usher, "Ohhh maaah God."
